Grind & Seal Polished Concrete

Southeast Qld Flooring Specialists

Southeast Floors offers the “Grind & Seal” finish as a cost-effective variation to mechanical polished concrete for customers wanting a budget friendly polished concrete floor, or where the existing concrete substrate is not be suitable for mechanical polishing

Southeast Floors “Grind & Seal” process…

The existing concrete substrate is mechanically ground using 30 grit diamonds to obtain the desired level of stone exposure (minimal to full stone exposure available), then honed with 60 grit diamonds, followed by 120 grit diamonds to provide a smooth and even surface finish.

Southeast Floors carries out a specialised grouting procedure during the honing process to fill existing holes and cracks present in the substrate while applying a concrete densifier to harden the concrete making the finish more durable.  The finishing process involves application of a clear coating to protect the floor while providing either a gloss-look or matte-look finish.

Looking after your Polished Concrete Floor…

As a surface coating is applied using this process, it is important the floor is maintained similar to that of a polished timber floor as the coating can become scratched or damaged if not treated correctly.

The floor coating will eventually wear over time and will need to be removed/replaced, generally every few years or so, depending on how the floor is treated.

Cleaning should be undertaken using only neutral ph chemicals and soft bristled brooms (sharp objects should not be used on the floor as this can cause damage to the coating).
